THE WHAM PROJECT
Since 1998 the school has entered the WHAM competition organised by the Norfolk Partnership against Crime Taskforce. We won the competition in 1998 and 2000 and have been runners-up on two occasions. Every year we have made it into the last five across the county, and for the last two years we have had two teams represented in the finals. WHAM was set up to give young people the chance to create something positive for their local community. This year one of our teams has looked at an internet safety campaign and created a website, while the other has promoted a recycling campaign. Both teams have visited local schools to give lessons to younger children, and have received plenty of media coverage to promote their work. The Norfolk finals are to be held the 18th July, and the winners can take a holiday of their choice anywhere in the world, so plenty is at stake! Our previous winning teams have visited the Grand Canyon and Mexico; and all finalists win a holiday at Sheringham’s Hill Top Outward Bound Adventure Centre.
