Business and Community Links

Flegg High School is proud to celebrate the strength of its links with business and the community. Last year's OFSTED report described this area of the school's work as "outstanding, a rich tapestry of activities".

For example, we have worked extensively over the past two years with Norwich City Football Club to set up the 'Fair Play' project; pupils regularly visit the Club to complete case studies on the facility for their double award in Business Studies; our 'gifted and talented' pupils will soon be going there to explore management opportunities in the world of sport; and last year, our Catering pupils worked extensively with the Club to design and make its new "Match Day Pie". Other examples of local links can be found in our community work with Asda, and in the half-termly "Maths Mornings" led by Mrs. Clay, which see our pupils running "party theme" sessions in basic mathematics at First Schools in our cluster. These events have become very popular, and were recently praised by the Local Education Authority for the good practice which they demonstrate. We have established valuable partnership links with commercial enterprises such as Meltemi, Hollinger Print and Screenprint Plus, and with the Wherry Housing Association, the Reed Academy, Barclays Bank and HSBC. Finally, the Flegg Centre is working to offer a range of adult education programmes geared to the needs and aspirations of the local community.
