RE/Citizenship

The course has been re-written this year in accordance with Norfolk and National agreed guidelines, and is developing all the time.  There is a rich programme of visiting speakers and opportunities for students to discuss and formulate views on a whole range of topics and religions.  Pupils are encouraged to become independent thinkers, and to offer challenging and critical interpretations of topics under review.  There are various assessment opportunities, both formal and informal.

Term 1: Prejudice (origins and types of prejudice)

Term 2: Worship (Muslim and Christian beliefs and practices)

Term 3: Poverty in the world today; Religion and poverty

Term 1: Origins and types of suffering; Good and evil; Religion and suffering

Term 2: Religion and Science; Creation myths; Moral issues raised by science

Term 3: The sanctity of life; Religion and matters of life and death; Truth (How do we know what is true? Where do we find truth?); Sacred texts
