English
Pupils are introduced to a range of texts (fiction and non-fiction) in a similar model to the GCSE syllabus. There are about four modules in each term, developing reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Learning is enhanced through regular use of ICT. Pupils prepare for SATs, and in 2005 80% attained level 5 or above. As the paper is geared to levels 4 –7 only, a few pupils who could not attain the required standard are exempted and receive teacher assessment instead. We hope to continue to meet the present high standards, and are concentrating on ensuring sound progression to Key Stage 4.
