French

There are four strands, or skill areas, in French GCSE: reading, writing, speaking and listening.  The coursework element is the writing strand, and like the other examined elements it accounts for 25% of the total mark.  A range of techniques is employed in the teaching and practice of grammar and vocabulary; ICT facilities are good and this year we have developed the use of interactive whiteboards.  The French department has built a strong results profile, gaining 63% A* - C grades last year, and we hope to build on this success.
